The park was founded in 1985. The total area of the park is 109 km2. The river Krka is a phenomenon of nature, which was founded 7 waterfalls. The biggest of them Skradinski Buk is also the last waterfall on the river Krka. Skradinski Buk is made up of 17 cascades with a total length of 800 m. At the waterfall there are mills, fulling washing cloth, a walk and a loom, which are extremely important cultural-historical.

The park grows 860 species of plants. In the river Krka live 18 types of fish, among which is the 10 rare species. A large variety of birds, up to 222. Among the mammals, the most valuable is the fauna of bats, which includes 18 kinds, mainly threatened or from extinction in Europe.
